The Shickley High School
students are back from tour. The full band and choir began last
Thursday for a home concert. Then 9 students traveled to Kearney for
Class D All-State Bands. Then 14 students ended their time with Conference
Honor Choir and Honor Band on Monday. In all the students have
performed 6 jazz charts, 14 concert band pieces, and 8 choir pieces. They
also rehearsed for about 17 hours, not to include time leading up to those 5
days, set up the class-d rehearsal sites, cleaned up the sites, set up and tore
down the home sites, and were on time for all call times. Just for our sanity
I didn't keep track of miles logged. Christy Swartzendruber also sight
read down a concert, like a true professional, because the symphonic band had
1/2 of the trumpet section missing and it added a voice that helped the whole
ensemble.
They represented the village and school of Shickley in a very high manner and
received praises from other directors when we were out and about.
Sometimes its nice to share news from the work the kids are doing in our
building and outside of the building.
Mr. Harris thank you for
allowing him to have a little more of the students time than normal for these
past couple of days.
The After School Program is Monday through Thursday,
